In its 36th year, Our Lady of the Lake Church presents Festival of the Lake October 19-21, 2018 in the third block of Lafitte Street in Historic Old Mandeville. The Festival’s theme this year is Live, Love, Festival of the Lake, a red, white and blue salute to the tradition of fun, families and great times at this annual celebration on the Northshore.

Admission is FREE for this community event and patrons are invited to bring chairs and enjoy our live bands. For food, games and drink, tickets can be purchased online at www.festivalofthelake.com, discounted 25% through October 7th at 7:30 p.m. T-Shirts featuring our iconic logo are also available for sale. Festivities kick off at 5 p.m. Friday, October 19th and end Sunday, October 21st at 5 p.m. On Saturday, the Festival opens at 11 a.m. and continues through 10 p.m.

The Festival’s Six Band Line-Up is led by Christian Serpas & Ghost Town (rock-a-billy; Yoakam-style guitar licks), followed by Supercharger (70s/80s/90s rock cover). Saturday’s bands are Next Gen V (rock, blues, funk blend from local young talent, led by trombonist Mike Mullins), Tchefuncte River Band (acoustic rock), and Category 6 (80s to today cover band, high energy and neon glow). On Sunday, the Festival debuts a Blues + Craft Brew Competition featuring an extraordinary blues musician, Jonathan “Boogie” Long from 1-4p. Craft brewers are welcome to compete and can sign up online. The public is welcome to taste and judge from 1-4 pm; wristbands for entry to the testing tent are available for purchase on the website.

The Festival has over 20 food and drink booths, serving mouth-watering local specialties, including chargrilled oysters from 5-10p Friday night, smoked brisket, pulled pork, Crawfish Julie pasta, muffalettas, cannelloni, along with hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken-on-a-stick, jambalaya, funnel cakes, kettle and roasted corn, yogurt, specialty chocolates, and many other delectable treats. Soft-drinks, water, beer and wine are also available.

Over 40 games and activities for kids of all ages, including, Ringin Liters, Catchin' Fish, Dipping Ducks, Frog Fly, Spillin Milk, Crashin Cans, Hangin Hats, an Art Tent, Painted Faces, Plinko, Baseball Mania, and many more. Our popular petting zoo will feature farm animals and pony rides. Older kids will enjoy the Drew Brees QB Challenge, Duck Paintball, Rock Climbing Wall, Bungee Run, Confetti Eggs, Baseball Speed Throw, and Putting Golf. And don’t forget our raffle basket tent, with over 35 over-flowing themed baskets.

The Festival’s always popular, top-notch craft show, with nearly 30 booths of local art, woodwork, unique clothes, jewelry, purses, decorative glassware, logo tiles, wood furniture, candles, and decorative crafts.

Festival booths and games are staffed by over 600 parishioners from Our Lady of the Lake Church, and proceeds support its many ministries. A portion of this year’s Festival proceeds are dedicated to feeding the hungry through our local food banks.
