Massachusetts High School Finds It Offensive To Call Their Students "Freshmen" Now They Will Be Called 'First Years.'

December 20, 2017

This is not a joke. Do you find the word 'Freshmen' gender sensitive?

According to

East Hampton High School in Massachusetts will no longer call their students  "freshmen." Instead, they will be called "first years" in an effort to be more gender sensitive.

This is what the school had to say:

"Students have the right to be free from discrimination based upon any protected characteristics, including race, color, religious creed, national origin, ancestry, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability," the handbook states.

They will keep "sophomores, juniors, and seniors," as this offends no one.
