“It’s definitely a stacked lineup,” Krewe captain Bobby Hjortsberg. “We wanted to over deliver for the first year and we are definitely going to do that.”

The festival will also feature performances from Boyfriend with members of the Revivalists, the Soul Rebels, Sweer Crude, Big Chief Monk Boudreaux and the Golden Eagles as well as Juvenile and Big Freedia.

Tickets for the the event are $50 and starts at 5 p.m. following the Krewe of Freret’s parade which is expanding as well.

“All the floats are brand new superfloats, this is the first time they’ve ever been used in a parade before,” Hjortsberg said. “They are all going to be reflecting our theme, the music of New Orleans…

”And we’ve built a massive super float for Trombone Shorty this year, it’s over two stories tall, It’s the largest float prop ever put in a Mardi Gras parade.”

Hjortsberg said the Krewe was hoping to make this weekend of Mardi Gras as big as next.

“We saw the opportunity to do it,” he said. “I think the whole purpose of these parades and Mardi Gras is to put on a show. Not just for the people that coming’s in from out of town but for the city of New Orleans.”
